About Linac Systems
Linac Systems was founded in 1991 by Donald and Barbara Swenson, when it began its initial R&D efforts on novel linear accelerator designs and systems. Below is a timeline of our company history.
- 1991: Linac Systems founded in Waxahachie, Texas.
- 1995: Radio frequency Focused Drift tube (RFD) linac development SBIR grant awarded.
- 1996: RFD patent granted.
- 1998: RFD beam achieved.
- 2002: Linac Systems moves to Albuquerque, New Mexico.
- 2004: Radio frequency Focused Interdigital (RFI) linac patent granted.
- 2006: RFI beam achieved.
- 2007: First production linac shipped.
Linac Systems' location in Albuquerque, New Mexico gives it access to personnel with extensive experience from Los Alamos and Sandia National Labs as well as the local support industries that have grown around the labs, such as precision machining. These unique resources are not available in any other part of the United States.
